Multi-million dollar cannabis grow op shut down north of Oshawa

A Durham Regional Police raid has shut down a multi-million dollar cannabis grow op in Port Perry and resulted in several people being charged.
DRPS conducted the raid on September 14 at a property on Hwy 7 and Hwy 12. The raid was the culmination of a long Drug Enforcement Unit investigation.
Officers found more than 10,000 illegal cannabis plants growing inside and outside the building. Additionally police found 250 lbs of dried weed in vacuum-sealed bags.
All told the bust seized around $8.5 million in cannabis.
Two unidentified people were on scene tending the plants when police raided the grow op. They’ve both been charged with unauthorized production of cannabis and possession of illicit cannabis.
