Multiple break-ins in Bowmanville lead to arrest of multiple offender

A Clarington man out on a release for break-and-enters is back behind bars after he was arrested and charged for multiple break-ins in Bowmanville last week.

Durham Police responded to Liberty Street and King Street on the east side of downtown Bowmanville on Tuesday, December 3 at 1 a.m. for an alarm call at a business. Officers arrived on scene and saw evidence of a break-in.

Forty-five minutes later another alarm call less than a kilometre away sent police to a second business, where the found the suspect still inside the shop. The man tried to get away on foot but was quickly arrested.

An investigation revealed that a third business had been broken into that night as well.

Jeremy Richardson, 21, is charged with three counts of break and enter, two counts of possession of stolen property (under $5,000), possession of break-in instruments and three breach of release order offences.

He was held for a bail hearing.
