Multiple gunshots rang out at a house in Ajax

Police are investigating an incident where shots were fired outside of a house in Ajax.

On Thursday (Feb. 22) Durham Regional Police responded to reports of an armed person shortly before 7 p.m., in the area of Daniels Crescent and Matthew Street.

According to investigators, multiple gunshots were heard being fired and once police arrived at the scene, they located shell casings on the roadway in front of the house.

Upon closer inspection, police observed bullet holes in the exterior of the house.

Police were unable to establish contact with anyone inside the residence and subsequently entered the home to ensure no one was injured.

Authorities say, the house was empty, but they were able to contact the homeowners who confirmed that no one was inside the home at the time of the shooting.

Additionally, a white SUV was reportedly observed fleeing the area around the time of the shooting.

Police have not indicated whether the incident was targeted or if the individuals living in the home were known to the suspect(s).
