Museum near Port Perry bringing fright and fun with return next month of Scary Stories

Scary Stories, Scugog Shores Museum

Will the onset of cooler weather and the coming of fall the scare season is almost here in Durham Region.

Theatre on the Ridge is teaming up with the Scugog Shores Museum Village to bring back their Scary Stories event next month, with guides serving up a little fright and a lot of fun each evening as they escort you around the museum village to hear tales of the supernatural and macabre, including true stories of paranormal activities within some of the museum’s own buildings.

There are four performances each evening at Scugog Shores Museum (located on Island Road, directly across the lake from Port Perry) on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26, with Scary Stories recommended for ages 12 and up. Tickets are $25 per person and are available in advance only.

The museum is also hosting its annual ‘Adventure at the Boo-seum’ in the afternoon (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) on October 26 for family-friendly spooky season fun. Theatre on the Ridge will also be on site to share some ‘spooktacular’ stage props and a few family fun tales as kids to carve a pumpkin and trick-or-treat around the village. Costumes are welcome – and encouraged – and admission is pay what you can.

Activities and performances will take place outdoors, rain or shine, at Scugog Shores Museum Village. All proceeds from Boo-seum and Scary Stories at the Museum will benefit the museum and the programs of Theatre on the Ridge.
