Scugog Shores Museum Village is receiving $55,000 in federal funding to boost its tourism activities.

The investment from Ottawa’s FedDev Ontario’s Tourism Growth Program includes support for projects aimed at expanding the tourism season through September 2024 to May 2025, by offering tours and workshops, developing a long-term tourism plan and hosting the travelling exhibit ‘MIIJIM: Traditional Foods of the Lake of the Woods Anishinaabe’ from May 26, 2025 to December 19, 2025.

Scugog Mayor Wilma Wotten thanked the government for supporting tourism education programming initiatives at Scugog Shores Museum Village. “We are proud of our shared heritage and look forward to welcoming visitors to experience the village and explore all we offer.”

Filomena Tassi, the Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario, said promoting “enhanced tourism activities” at the museum goes beyond the tourism sector and will have “positive impacts” on hospitality, arts and culture and infrastructure. “The Government of Canada’s strategic investments are making a difference for rural communities like Port Perry for those who call it home and those who come to visit.”
