Nearly $50,000 worth of drugs found in Oshawa

Two people are in custody after police discovered nearly $50,000 worth of drugs, including meth and cocaine, in Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police officers were out on patrol on Oct. 4 when they came upon a man and a woman who seemed suspicious. The officers investigated the pair and claimed they discovered drugs and paraphernalia on them. In total the value of the drugs exceeded $49,000, police estimate.

Luke Martell, 35 of Oshawa, and Raechel Lawrenson, 44 of Oshawa, both face three charges of drug trafficking for cocaine, meth, and an unspecified third substance. Martell is also charged with breaching probation and failure to comply with a release order. Similarly, Lawrenson is charged with two counts of breaking a release order.

Both suspects remain in custody until a bail hearing.
