New COVID-19 cases in Durham down to 12; one death reported in Oshawa Sunday

New COVID-19 cases in Durham Region dropped to 12 Sunday after the region reported 27 and 21 the two previous days and case numbers in the mid-30s late last week.

Whitby (15) and Oshawa (14) recorded the highest totals during the past three days, with Oshawa also reporting one death on Sunday. Brock Township continued to show no new cases of the virus and Ajax gave hope for the future with a zero new case day on Friday.

The active case total has also dropped to 159.

There are still three institutional outbreaks with seven residents in isolation; two workplace outbreaks and six outbreaks in Durham Region schools.

Monseigneur Leo Cleary Catholic School in Courtice remains closed after a school-wide outbreak was declared a week ago.
