While most people are happy to pick up coffee from big-name brands, there’s something special about an independent cafe–particularly in the suburbs, where they’re generally less common.

A few days ago, Maple Brewz, which specializes in coffee and dessert, announced that it officially opened its doors in the Dundas Street East location formerly occupied by Coffee Culture.

Founded in Whitby, operators say they have a decade of experience and have grown their brand into a “beloved local hub for quality coffee, delectable treats and comforting meals.”

“Our team of dedicated professionals strives to create a warm and inviting space, where every visitor feels at home,” the company says on its website, adding that the cafe is perfect for people looking to relax, as well as those looking for cozy locations for meetings.

As far as drinks go, the menu features lattes (specialty and regular), cappuccinos, iced coffee, smoothies, teas and other beverages. The cafe also offers a range of food options, including wraps, sandwiches, soups, salads and sweets. Some desserts on offer include three types of Belgian waffles (traditional, Nutella and berry varieties) and cakes.

On its website, the cafe says it plans to launch a loyalty program soon.
