A trip to Disneyland is on the schedule for Pickering dad Andrew Smith and his family after winning $1 million in the Lotto Max draw.

Smith hasn’t quite figured out exactly how he is going to spend his Maxmillions winning in the May 21, 2024 draw, but he does plan to take his wife and daughter to California to visit Mickey and Minnie Mouse and their friends on a family vacation.

“We are overwhelmed thinking about what to do next, but it does help to calm life down,” said Smith, who purchased his winning ticket at Smoker’s Corner on Kingston Road in Pickering.

Smith, who has been playing the lottery for over 20 years, got quite the surprise when he went to check his ticket.

“I checked my ticket on the ticket checker and refused to believe it after the first scan,” said the family man who always makes sure to add Encore. “I had to have the store clerk double check it to be sure.

“I was in utter disbelief and shock.”

So was his wife when he shared the news.

“She was in shock too, asking me, ‘Did you count the zeros?’” Smith said with a laugh while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.
