The start of the school year means a few changes at Durham Transit, with one new route, the end of the line for a couple of seasonal routes and some two dozen more tweaked with adjustments and modifications to focus on improved reliability and connections to GO Trains.

A new route will operate between Pickering Parkway Terminal and Seaton (Burkholder Drive), via Kingston Road, Whites Road, and Taunton Road. Trips on Route 118 will leave Pickering Parkway Terminal (Platform B12) and will operate during weekday a.m./p.m. peak periods, every 30 minutes.

The end of summer means the end of two seasonal routes as well, with Route 100 to the Pickering waterfront and Route 224 to the Ajax waterfront heading back to the depot until next summer.

The changes come into effect Tuesday September 3, with the service updates reflecting increased travel during the fall months and the beginning of school in Durham Region.
