A new café inside the equally new Bond|St Event Centre is now brewing up coffee and locally made vegan delicacies in downtown Oshawa.

The Bond St. Cafe, the newest Cafe to join the local community, opened in time to be part of the Doors Open event May 4, with the cafe part of a newly renovated space that also includes a lounge, snack bar and two music venues: the Mainstage and Two-To-Two, the successor to a noted launch pad for new bands a generation ago called The Dungeon.

The Bond St. Café serves up locally roasted coffee (provided by Stock & Crown) as well as locally crafted vegan pastries (provided by Kind Bakehouse). The café also sells Honeys premium plant based iced creams.

Originally constructed for the GM United Auto Workers Union Local 222, the building was bought by the Sacco Group in 1996. It was home to multiple tenants over the years (including the Dungeon and Lazer Quest) and renamed Bond|St Event Centre in 2020.

The renovations, prolonged by the pandemic and eventually taken over by new players, were finally completed earlier this year, giving Oshawa residents a taste of the ‘big city’ right here at home.

The Bond St. Café is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
