Whitby has unveiled the second edition of its Food Guide to show off the town’s culinary delights.

The town launched its guide last summer and followed up with its second edition last weekend. “Whitby’s Food Guide features restaurants, cafes, breweries, field-to-fork cuisine, pub fare, bakeries and multiple diverse and ethnic cuisines to indulge in,” the town wrote of the guide.

The guide additionally highlights Whitby’s two celebrity chefs; Chef Andrea Nicholson and Chef Tre Sanderson. Nicholson is a Food Network personality now appearing as a judge on Fire Masters, a barbeque competition series. Sanderson rose to fame on season 10 of Top Chef Canada last fall, eventually becoming the series’ first Black winner.

“Whether you’re a foodie or just looking for a quick bite; out on a date night or looking for a great place to have drinks with friends, Whitby’s food and beverage scene has a place for every appetite,” the town wrote.

The guide moves through several chapters including New In Town, Fine Dining, Amazing Asian, Cheers (about local breweries), Black-owned, Cultural Cuisine, Delicious Downtown, Field-to-Fork (featuring a spotlight on Sanderson who trained at Whitby’s Durham College campus), Comfort Food, Sweet Tooth, Coffee and Breakfast.

The 2023 edition is significantly larger than the previous year’s featuring 48 pages compared to 2022’s 32.

The whole guide is available online.
