Nightclub shooting in Montreal leads to arrests in Courtice

Three Courtice residents face weapons charges after police investigated a shooting at a Montreal nightclub.

After receiving information from the Montreal Police, officers searched a home in Courtice on Oct. 11, Durham Regional Police said in a press release today (Oct. 17).

Montreal police were investigating a shooting outside a nightclub on Sept. 3 and identified a possible suspect from Courtice, police said. The two police forces conducted a joint investigation.

Police said they found two firearms and ammunition in the Courtice home.

Three people face charges.

Courtice residents Ezekiel Beckford, 29, and Shakeem Devon Beckford, 30, are both charged with possessing a restricted firearm with no licence, possessing a loaded restricted firearm, possessing a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with, and dealing with a firearm contrary to registration.

Rebecca Favreau, 30, of Courtice, is charged with possessing a restricted firearm with no licence, possessing a loaded restricted firearm, possessing a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with.
