Durham Regional Police have determined that foul play was not a factor in the death of man found in Oshawa Friday night.
Police say the body of a man was found shortly after 10:30 p.m. near Adelaide Ave, W. and Gibbons Street.
The case was initially treated as a ‘suspicious death’ by police until they received the coroner’s autopsy results Saturday.
The area where the man was found stayed closed during the investigation.
On Sunday (Feb. 4) Durham Police posted an update on X (formerly Twitter) saying that the death of the man was not “criminal in nature.”
Investigators also confirmed that the 27-year-old man was previously reported missing on Jan. 26.
The man was reportedly last seen leaving on foot from his Elgin Court home in Oshawa and was not heard from since. “His family and friends have concerns for his wellbeing as it is uncommon for him to be missing for this length of time,” police had said in the report.
Police have not provided further details on the man’s cause of death.
