It will be a GO Train-less weekend on the Lakeshore East line, with no train service from Oshawa to Union stations from Friday evening until the end of day Sunday, July 23.

GO buses will replace train service from Oshawa to Pickering, with express GO Buses running to Union Station. Transit users in Toronto that normally travel by GO Train from Rouge Hill, Guildwood, Eglinton, Scarborough or Danforth GO stations will now use the TTC.

Metrolinx will be performing construction and maintenance work during the shutdown, as well as platform work at the Eglinton GO station and bridge work to prepare for the Ontario Line. This work can only be done when trains are not running.

The 9:36 p.m. Lakeshore East trip is the last scheduled train departure from Union Station Friday night to Oshawa GO, arriving at 10:36 p.m.  Westbound from Oshawa, the last scheduled train departure from Oshawa to Union Station will be 9:07 p.m.

Between 10 p.m. to end of service, shuttle buses will operate but as trips will leave later than usual (buses do not have the same capacity as trains) Metrolinx advises travellers to plan ahead and check the schedules.

From 7:30 a.m. onward to end of service, shuttle buses will serve all stations from Oshawa to Pickering, then express to Union Station bus terminal.
