Nominations for Oshawa Culture Count Awards open Jan. 6

The City of Oshawa is calling all artists for the annual Culture Counts Awards.
Nominations for the awards, which celebrate and honour the creative and cultural achievements of artists, collectives and organizations that have made a meaningful impact in the community, will be accepted beginning January 6.
The deadline for nominations is February 3 and Oshawa Council will present the winners with the awards in the spring.
Individuals, groups and organizations can be nominated or apply in three categories for the Oshawa Culture Counts Awards:
Professional Artist Award, which recognizes an established artist of any arts discipline who has demonstrated creativity, originality, professional maturity and artistic leadership in the community.
2024 winner: Amy Shackleton
Emerging Artist Award, which recognizes emerging artists in the early stages of their career. The award encompasses all art disciplines and recognizes artists who inspires and enriches the lives of fellow citizens.
2024 winners: Emily Rocha and Kalista Wilson
The Innovation and Creation Champion Award, which honours an individual, collective and/or organization in the creative and cultural industries that has created or enhanced an event, product, program or partnership in the past year. This award recognizes work that is unique, transformative, and positive in its impact on arts, culture, and heritage in Oshawa.
