North Durham Pride completes its trilogy of events Saturday when the Uxbridge Pride Celebration takes over Elgin Park in downtown Uxbridge.

The second annual Uxbridge Pride promises to be a fun-filled day packed with plenty of entertainment (Melissa Payne is the headline afternoon act), drag performances, food and DJ music from Summation. And most importantly, a celebration of the inclusive and diverse rural culture that exists in Uxbridge Township.

North Durham Pride opened its season of celebrating diversity with the Scugog Pride (celebrating 20 years) festival on June 8 in Port Perry, followed by Brock Pride on July 13.

“Our organization is dedicated to promoting visibility and representation of 2SLGBTQI+ individuals in Scugog, Uxbridge, and Brock Townships,” declared a mission statement from North Durham Pride. “Our vision is to cultivate an inclusive and diverse rural culture that values and respects the contributions, experiences, and identities of 2SLGBTQI+ communities.”

The party in Uxbridge will happen from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an after-party at Second Wedge Brewing and Foundry Pi at nearby 14 Victoria Street to follow.
