Scugog, Uxbridge and Brock residents will be getting together to celebrate the LGBT community at the second North Durham Pride march June 8, honouring 20 years of Pride in Durham Region.

The North Durham Pride celebrations will happen at Palmer Park in Port Perry, with a day filled with activities, entertainment and music, all centered around promoting inclusivity and diversity.

The march will kick off in front of Reflection Park at 9 a.m. in Port Perry and wind its way down Queen Street to Palmer Park for the Scugog Pride Celebration, set against the backdrop of Port Perry’s waterfront.

Durham Pride celebrations had humble beginnings at a small picnic in Whitby in 2004. Today there are celebrations honouring the 2SLGBTQI+ community in towns and cities across the region.

North Durham Pride celebrations will happen from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Palmer Park following the march, with an ‘Afternoon Delight’ event at Old Flame Brewing from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a Small-Town Pride after-party at Two Blokes Cider from 6 p.m. to midnight.
