Nurse charged with sexual assualt of a patient in Whitby

A nurse has been charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a patient several times over a six-month period.

The patient was an in-patient of an adolescent program at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences for six months in 2022. A year later, the patient came forward to Durham Regional Police’s Special Victims Unit to allege a nurse in their unit had sexually assaulted them several times during their stay.

Christopher Persaud, 24 of Whitby, has been charged with eight counts of sexual assault, eight counts of sexual interference and three counts of inviting sexual touching. He has since been released with conditions.
