Officer injured in foot chase from Oshawa traffic stop, cocaine and cash seized

An Oshawa traffic stop last night lead to a foot chase from the scene in which and officer was hurt, and police finding a cocaine and a “large sum” of cash in the car

Durham Police pulled over a vehicle near the Harmony Road and King Street East intersection at 9 p.m. February 6. Officers found cannabis readily available in the vehicle and discovered the driver had a suspended licence.

Police say they found cocaine and “large sum” of cash in the car.

The suspect ran from the scene as police investigated. An officer suffered a non-life threatening injury in the resulting chase and was taken to hospital.

Officers combed the area with assistance from the K-9 unit and found the suspect hiding out in a shed.

Ataulhai Ahmad, 21 of Oshawa, is charged with obstructing police, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, driving  with cannabis readily available, driving under suspension and speeding. He has been released from custody with conditions.
