Officers praised for life saving efforts after a man suffered a massive heart attack in Whitby

Local authorities have received word that a Durham area man is in stable condition due to the rapid resuscitative efforts of local officers.
Durham Regional Police announced in a post to X (formerly Twitter) that on August 28, 2024, around 6 p.m., regional officers responded to an unknown trouble dispatch near the Whitby border close to Thornton Road North and Taunton Road East.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers witnessed passersby and other members of the public performing CPR on a male who authorities indicated was not breathing.
Officers then engaged in continuous resuscitative action.

Upon the arrival of EMS and local firefighters, emergency responders continued their rounds of CPR until a heartbeat was eventually detected.
The male was then rushed to hospital for further treatment, and according to Durham Regional Police, after two days, officers were notified he had suffered and survived a massive heart attack.
Local authorities applauded members of the public and the officers who arrived on the scene for their life-saving efforts.
