If you want to follow the progress of Oshawa’s Strategic Plan you can “track the future” with a new online dashboard that measures the steps the city is taking towards its long-term vision.
The Strategic Plan 2024 – 2027, which was approved by Oshawa Council in June, is the city’s highest policy document, refining the corporate mission and setting out a series of priority areas, goals and actions to move towards the vision.
The new dashboard tracks 28 performance metrics and helps staff, council and residents measure the city’s progress as it strives towards its vision for a “thriving, innovative and caring community.”
Four priority areas have been identified in the strategic plan, which are supported with specific goals and actions:
- vibrant culture and economy
- inclusive and healthy community
- safe and sustainable environment
- governance and service excellence
The plan also uses four words to describe its ultimate goals: Innovate, Belong, Care and Lead.
The Strategic Plan was developed through extensive community engagement, using feedback from more than 6,900 interactions with council and staff, community partners and the public.
Insights from these engagements helped shape a future vision and mission for Oshawa based on the core principles of leadership, innovation, collaboration, inclusion, safety and sustainability.
