Ontario’s Big City Mayors executed a little executive shuffle Friday, with Whitby Mayor Elizabeth Roy added to the board as Secretary.

Other new faces include Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall as Vice-Chair, with the two newcomers joining Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward as Chair, Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson as Treasurer and Cam Guthrie of Guelph as Past-Chair.

Roy replaces Oakville Mayor Rob Burton as Secretary.

The new members will officially join the committee in December for a two-year term.

“It’s an incredible honour to be named to the executive committee of Ontario’s Big City Mayors, which leads a caucus of 29 mayors from Ontario’s largest cities.,” Roy said. “I’m looking forward to continuing work on the many challenging issues facing our municipalities.”

Ontario’s Big City Mayors, which provides a voice in policy debates concerning municipal issues, is comprised of mayors of Ontario cities with populations of 100,000 or more. Collectively, the group represents nearly 70 per cent of Ontario’s population.

“I am extremely grateful to the members who have stepped forward to serve on the executive and I look forward to working with new members and returning,” said Meed Ward. “We are stronger as an organization when we have collaborative leadership working together for the benefit of the caucus on the tough issues we all face.”
