Ontario Tech University held a number of activities to mark Truth and Reconciliation Day and Orange Shirt Day and to honour the children and families of the residential school system.

Perhaps none so striking as the Software and Informatics Research Centre, which was lit orange to commemorate the day.

Opened in 2017, the four-storey building houses engineering labs in electronics, mechatronics, and robotics as well as a design/makerspace featuring 3D printers, and soldering and electronics stations.

The university also honoured First Nations people when they opened their newest building, Shawenjigwwining Hall, with a sacred ceremony June 29.
