Ontario Tech of Oshawa ranked third in Ontario for engineering – global report

Engineering is one of Ontario Tech University’s consistent strengths and the Oshawa school earned some recognition from the U.S. News and World Report with a #7 ranking in Canada and a top three placing in Ontario for its engineering programs.
The two-decade old university placed ahead of some long-established Canadian school in the report, compiled via a survey of universities around the world.
Waterloo was the top ranked Canadian school for engineering, with the school ranked 44th in the world.
University of Toronto, UBC, Alberta, McGill and Concordia finished ahead of Ontario Tech in the rankings, with the University of Montreal, Calgary and Hamilton’s McMaster University rounding out the top ten.
Energy and Fuels was a major sub-category strength for Ontario Tech, with the school earning a #4 ranking nationally. The university also demonstrated strong numbers for regional and global research reputation, as well as citation impact for journal publications of new research discoveries.

The community and the world are clearly taking notice of Ontario Tech’s compelling story and our dedication to excellence in all our undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs.”
The 2023 U.S. News and World Report lists only the world’s top 1,750 university engineering programs. Tsinghua University (China) took the top spot globally, followed by Singapore schools Nanyang Tech and National University of Singapore, with MIT (USA) in fourth and China’s Harbin Institute of Technology at #5.
