Open liquor found in Oshawa traffic stop leads to loaded gun discovery and multiple charges

A loaded weapon, open liquor and drugs has landed a man in jail on multiple charges after a traffic stop early Monday morning.
Durham Police stopped a “suspicious vehicle” near Simcoe Street South and Athol Street East in downtown Oshawa just after 2 a.m. on July 29. Officers saw open containers of alcohol and conducted a search of the vehicle, where they discovered a handgun and drugs in possession of one of the occupants.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
A 30-year-old man is charged with five firearm offences, including possession of a loaded weapon, four drug-related offences and two counts of breach of probation.
He was held for a bail hearing.
