The City of Oshawa is calling on residents and businesses to uplift spirits this holiday season by participating in the Outdoor Holiday Display Contest and by donating to the Feed the Need Durham holiday drive.
Houses are aglow with enchanting light displays this time of year as people showcase their lights and decorations and businesses get involved as well with animated storefront windows. All are eligible for the contest.
Just submit a photo at www.oshawa.ca/holidayspirit to enter. All outdoor displays that can be seen by those passing by are eligible.
The contest runs November 29 to December 31. Three winners will be chosen at random to receive $100 value gift bags. The Outdoor Holiday Display Contest is sponsored by TD Canada.
“Our city is excited to host the Outdoor Holiday Display Contest for another successful season. As we decorate our homes for the holidays, let’s also celebrate the spirit of Oshawa by supporting each other and donating to Feed the Need in Durham,” said Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter. “A simple act of kindness can make all the difference to our most vulnerable community members.”
The annual Feed the Need Durham is underway as well and you can brighten the lives of those in need by giving donations of non-perishable food or personal care items between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursday at 371A Marwood Drive in Oshawa.
“This holiday season as we return to some of our much-loved traditions, let’s not forget those who may be struggling in our community,” said Councillor Derek Giberson, Vice-Chair of the Community Services Committee. “Help brighten our city by decorating your home and giving to Feed the Need in Durham.”
