Oshawa contest challenges people to explore city’s hidden gems

Visitors and residents alike are being challenged to discover the hidden gems and experiences that make Oshawa unique.
Oshawa’s “Hometown Tourist Challenge” offers people a chance to win weekly prizes and a grand prize.
The contest, which runs until Aug. 18, aims to show people the city’s attractions, dining experiences, parks, walking trails and local shops.
“Whether you’re a lifelong resident or a newcomer, this challenge will take you on a journey through the heart of our community, showcasing the hidden treasures and captivating stories that make Oshawa truly special,” Oshawa Tourism said in a press release.
To participate, download the TurfHunt app on your smartphone, search for the “Hometown Tourist Challenge” and register. Participants can explore Oshawa’s attractions and take up the challenges while checking in at local hotspots.
Weekly prizes include concert tickets, passes to popular attractions, gift certificates for local restaurants, and entertainment vouchers. All participants are eligible for the grand prize: the Ultimate Oshawa Experience gift basket, which includes a pair of tickets to the Doobie Brothers, dinner at Avanti Trattoria, a $25 gift card to Portobello Road and more.
“Oshawa is a city with a rich history and an abundance of remarkable attractions,” said Krista Licsi, director of Oshawa Tourism, in a press release. “The Hometown Tourist Challenge is an invitation for residents to fall in love with their city all over again and for visitors to discover the wonders that Oshawa has to offer. We believe this challenge will foster a deep sense of pride in our community and encourage everyone to support local businesses and explore the diverse experiences available right at our doorstep.”
