Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Jane and Michael Desson of Oshawa. They matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the September 7 LOTTO MAX draw to win $100,000.

The Dessons, retired parents and grandparents, said they are regular lottery players, but they don’t always add ENCORE. “This ticket was a Free Play, so I added ENCORE,” Michael said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their winnings.

It was Jane who discovered the win after the draw. “I was checking our ticket one morning when I noticed the ENCORE numbers matched. I must have spent five minutes double-checking the numbers before telling my husband.”

She then had to go to the store to make sure what she was seeing was real. “I used the Ticket Checker and then called Michael to tell him it was real. He asked me if I was doing the happy dance – I said ‘No, I feel like I’m going to pass out!’ It was an exciting and wonderful moment.”

The pair plan to put some of their winnings toward a trip to Europe.

ENCORE offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1. There is an ENCORE draw every day.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Highway 2 in Courtice.
