Minto Community’s Heights of Harmony residential development in north Oshawa earned top honours at the annual Building Industry and Development Association (BILD) awards night May 30, winning Project of the Year.

The Heights of Harmony project (Phase II) was cited for its energy efficiency, with a high-performance envelope that maintains a comfortable temperature inside the homes year-round while reducing energy usage. The project also earned praise for encouraging biodiversity by preserving much of the natural areas during the build process.

Those attributes also contributed to the Oshawa developer carrying the day as the Pinnacle Award winner for Green Builder of the Year (Low Rise) for the second consecutive year.

Minto was also a finalist for Home Builder of the Year – Mid-High Rise, as well as Low Rise – and for Green Builder of the Year in the Mid-High Rise category.

BILD presented 49 awards in the categories of architecture, design, marketing, people and sales, as well as the prestigious Pinnacle categories. A group of 40 judges from across North America determined the winners from more than 930 submitted entries.

“The BILD Awards is one of the largest and most prestigious awards programs of its kind in North America,” said BILD CEO Dave Wilkes. “This year’s finalists and winners exemplify outstanding innovation and showcase the excellence of the building industry in the Greater Toronto Area.”

Brixen Developments was named Home Builder of the Year, Mid/High-Rise, while OPUS Homes received the title of Home Builder of the Year, Low-Rise. The Home Builder of the Year categories recognize builders who set the standard for the rest of the industry through their professionalism and dedication to excellence.
