A man from Oshawa has been charged with impaired driving after reportedly swerving into the oncoming lane.

According to the OPP, an officer was driving down Hugel Ave. in Midland, a town on the coast of Georgian Bay, shortly after 1 a.m. on Feb. 20.

He spotted a car swerve onto the shoulder of the road, which runs through the centre of town, before overcorrecting and entering the oncoming lane.

The officer pulled the car over in a parking lot near the intersection of Hugel Ave. and County Rd. 93, home to a large commercial district.

In speaking with the driver, age 26, the officer concluded he was impaired. As a result, the driver was charged with driving impaired, driving with a blood alcohol content over 80 and breach of probation.

He will appear in a Midland courtroom on Mar. 2.
