Oshawa Fire finally received delivery of the new Rapid Response/Haz Mat truck, a vehicle that had actually been approved in 2021.

The $640,000 Rapid Response Vehicle (which will also function as a Hazmat Command Post) will be going into service in a few weeks once firefighters finish training.

The vehicle was included in the 2021 City Capital Budget after the completed the new Fire Master Plan and Community Risk Assessment report was completed. Supply chain issues – which plagued government and the private sector throughout the pandemic – had delayed its delivery until now.

The truck will operate from Oshawa Fire headquarters at Adelaide and Arena and will be used for everything from downtown medical calls and accidents on Highway 401.
