The Oshawa Generals dropped a pair of weekend games on the road to fall to fourth in the OHL’s East Division, now ten points adrift of the first place Kingston Frontenacs.

The Generals got smacked by those same Fronts Friday night and were nipped 3-2 at the wire Sunday in Mississauga by the Steelheads. Oshawa’s record is now 9-9-3.

Kingston, which followed up Friday’s win with a 5-1 thrashing of Ottawa Sunday to win their fifth straight, scored two power-play goals – both by Martin Chroniak – late in the second to pull away in Friday’s game.

Zachary Paputsakis was busy Sunday, facing 35 shots in the Generals’ net and it was Mississauga’s Owen Beck who scored the game-winner with a snipe from the slot with just over a minute left. Ryan Stepien and Brett Harrison had the Oshawa goals.

Oshawa also announced a trade last week, sending over-ager Tye McSorley to London for a 10th round selection in 2023.
