Connor Punnett celebrates after his second period goal against the Ottawa 67s Tuesday

That rise to the #3 spot in the just released Ontario Hockey League power rankings for the Oshawa Generals must have gone straight to their heads, or their sticks at least, as the club got goals from five different players to beat the Ottawa 67s 5-4 in a rare mid-week game to run their win streak to five.

All five wins have come against top ten clubs, with the three wins prior to Tuesday night’s home win all on the road against London (then #2, now #5), Soo (then #1, now #4) and Sudbury.

The win Tuesday pulled the streaking Generals to within one of East Division leaders Brantford and opened a six point lead on Ottawa.

Jacob Oster stopped 23 of 27 shots and Oshawa survived an Ottawa comeback to win it on Luke Torrance’s 20th of the season with just over six minutes to play.

Luca Marelli, Dylan Roobroeck, Tyler Graham and Connor Punnett had the other Oshawa goals while Charlie Hilton, Luca Pinelli, Frankie Marelli and Derel Smythe replied for Ottawa.

The Generals are in Brantford Friday night before returning home Sunday for a date with Barrie, who will be looking for payback after losing to Oshawa 5-2 on Feb. 25, the first win in the Generals’ current win streak.
