Oshawa first round pick Beckett Sennecke at rookie camp this summer

Oshawa Generals rookies David Bedkowski, Ben Danford and Beckett Sennecke have all been named to Hockey Canada’s roster for the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Langley and Delta B.C.

Sennecke joined the Generals after being the 8th overall pick in the first round of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. The 6’, 160 lb forward currently leads all 2006-born players in the OHL with seven points in seven games. Sennecke wasted no time scoring his first career OHL goal, doing so in his first-ever OHL game, against the Barrie Colts. He’s already put up three goals and four assists in just his first seven OHL games, continuing an impressive scoring touch from a season before where he scored 80 points in 45 games with the Toronto Marlboros.

Danford, the Madoc Ont., native was Oshawa’s 14th overall selection in the first round of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. A regular on the Generals’ defence this season, Danford scored his first career OHL goal October 7 against Niagara. Last year, as the captain of the Quinte Red Devils, Danford scored seven goals and added 22 assists for 29 points in 26 games.

Bedkowski, the 6’4, 203 lb defenceman from Toronto, was the 36th overall selection by the Generals in the second round last year. In three games so far this season with the Gens Bedkowski is still searching for his first career OHL point. Last year with the Richmond Hill Coyotes, he had 10 goals and eight assists in 28 games.

The World U-17 Hockey Challenge returns to the IIHF cycle this season after it was replaced by the Capital City Challenge tournament last season – one where current Calum Ritchie took home a Gold Medal.

The World U-17 Hockey Challenge will run from November 3-12.
