The Oshawa Generals split a pair of weekend matches to stay within sight of first place in the East Division, as their 8-6-3 record leaves them just three points behind first-place Hamilton.
Ryan Gagnier and rookie Calum Ritchie – with his ninth of the season – had the Oshawa goals Friday as the Generals lost a tight 4-2 decision to North Bay. Captain Ty Tullio was the hero Sunday, scoring 1:17 into overtime to lead the Generals to a 4-3 victory over the Kingston Frontenacs and their projected number one draft pick Shane Wright, who was held pointless.
Matthew Buckley, Nikita Parfenyuk, and Brett Harrison – with the goalie pulled and just 1:10 left in the third to send it to overtime – also scored for the Generals, who snapped a three-game losing streak with the win.
Patrick Leaver made 31 saves for his 8th win of the season.
The Generals next game is Friday night as they host the Ottawa 67’s.
