The Oshawa Generals have unveiled their 2022 Outdoor Showcase jerseys for the outdoor game at Tim Horton’s Field against the Hamilton Bulldogs next Monday.

The uniforms, designed by Jonathan Resnick, are the traditional white road jerseys with special patches and crisp, clean lines delineating the red, blue and white colour scheme.

They are, as the kids say, bangers and should sell quickly at the Oshawa Generals Store in the Tribute Communities Centre once they are released to the public.

Resnick, a graduate of York University’s Schulich School of Business (2021) with a Master’s in marketing, has worked with NHL stars like Joe Thornton, Jared McCann and Adam Henrique on their personal branding and has worked with Top Shelf Sports Management, a ‘global yet boutique’ sports agency since 2016.

The Generals said Resnick “captured our heritage, where the Oshawa Generals come from, and where we continue to go” in the design.

The opportunity for the club to play in the outdoor game on the national stage came about because Hamilton Bulldog owner Michael Andlauer saw an opportunity with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Buffalo Sabres playing an NHL outdoor game the night before at Tim Horton’s Field.

“I’m thrilled for our players, staff and fans to get to experience this once in a lifetime type of event,” Andlauer said in a release. “This outdoor showcase presents a wonderful opportunity to once again bring our community together through our Hamilton Bulldogs.”

Fortunately for the Generals, Oshawa just happened to be on the schedule.

The matchup will be the 35th outdoor NHL game, and the third scheduled for the 2021-22 season.

The OHL game will be the fourth outdoor game for the league following a 2013 double-header event in Hockeytown Detroit and a game at Ottawa’s TD Place stadium in 2017.

This will be the first outdoor game involving two Ontario-based OHL clubs. Game time is 7 p.m.
