Oshawa is hoping residents take action on ParticipACTION by taking part in recreational activities in June as part of Recreation and Parks Month.

The city has partnered with other communities in the region to offer free recreational activities throughout the month of June, part of an annual movement promoting the benefits of recreation for physical, social, and environmental health

Participants have a chance to win prizes and be entered into the grand prize draw or simply get active with free fun swims, yoga, nature walks, roller skating/blading and more.

The complete list of activities is available online.

Oshawa is also participating in the ParticipACTION Community Challenge. This national challenge encourages Canadians to get active in June, awarding the most active community with a cash prize to support local physical activity and sport initiatives.

Oshawa residents, community groups, and organizations can join the challenge and help the city earn the title of Canada’s Most Active Community and win $100,000 to support local recreation programs and services.

To participate, register as an organization and track programs and events delivered by that get people active throughout June. Each organization that registers and logs their activities between now and June 30 contributes to Oshawa’s ParticipACTION score.
