Oshawa man charged after his partner is stabbed in Whitby

A man is in police custody this afternoon after his partner was stabbed in Whitby.

Durham Regional Police got a call around 8:20 p.m. on November 8. reporting the stabbing. Officer went out to the Centre St. and Beech St. area, a largely residential neighbourhood just off Brock St.

When they arrived they found a woman who had been stabbed in the calf. Her injuries were found not to be life-threatening and she was taken to a local hospital.

Her partner, a 42-year-old Oshawa man, was arrested at the scene and charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and assault. He was held for a bail hearing.

Police believe this is an isolated incident. They have withheld the suspect’s name to protect the name of the victim.
