Oshawa man drowns in Rice Lake north of Cobourg

A 65-year-old Oshawa man has died in Rice Lake, north of Cobourg.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a person calling for help from Rice Lake, near Harwood, around 2 p.m. yesterday (July 5), OPP said in a press release.
Bystanders went out to try and help the man however he went underwater and never resurfaced, police said.
Later, a 65-year-old man from Oshawa was found in the water and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario is assisting with the investigation. No foul play is suspected.
