Thomas Yule of Oshawa. $1 million Gold Ball Draw winner

Thomas Yule of Oshawa now knows a comfortable retirement is in the cards after winning $1 million in the September 14 Gold Ball Draw.

“This is my first major win – I’ve been playing LOTTO 6/49 since 1991,” Yule shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

The father of two says he checked his ticket on the OLG App the morning after the draw when he discovered his big win. “It’s my regular routine. I wake up, make coffee, pack my lunch and check my tickets. I stared at my phone and smiled silently for a while and I said to myself, ‘wow, I can retire.’ It’s pretty amazing.”

He plans to purchase a car, share with his daughters, and invest his winnings.

“I couldn’t be happier.”.

The new LOTTO 6/49 offers players a chance to win two multi-million dollar jackpots every Wednesday and Saturday, for the same $3 per play.

The main draw is the new Classic Draw and offers a fixed $5 million jackpot for every draw, while the previous $1 million Guaranteed Prize Draw is the new Gold Ball Draw. The Gold Ball Jackpot Draw guarantees that the winner will take home either $1 million, or the growing jackpot that starts at $10 million and can grow as high as $68 million. The winning ticket was purchased at Elderberry Convenience on Elderberry Drive in Oshawa.
