Oshawa man to travel the world after ‘freeing’ $650,000 lotto win

An Oshawa man plans to travel the world with his son after a $650,000 lotto win.

Paul, 65, is a regular lotto player who has won smaller prized in the past. However, he’s never won anything like Lottario ticket he picked up Munchies Gift & Variety on King Street in Oshawa. He picks up a Lottario for himself and some scratchers for his wife every Friday.

The last time he grabbed some was ahead of the May 20 draw. Later, he was out with his wife on the way back from a doctor’s appointment. He decided to stop at a convenience on the way and checked his ticket.

“I went out to the car and said to my wife, ‘You better park. I think I just won big,’” he later told the OLG. He want back into the store to double-check the ticket only to find, “The machine shut down, but my blood pressure went way up!”

He plans on managing his finances and helping his kids. However, he’s also got an adventurous spirit, “My son and I went to Scotland and Ireland recently. I’d love to keep exploring the world with my family. I also want to support my son’s marriage ceremony,” he said, “This win feels so freeing.”
