A long-time lottery player is celebrating his first big payout after winning $250,000 in a TRIPLE MILLIONS game.
Shane Gillies of Oshawa, who has been playing the lottery for 17 years, saw a television ad for the limited-time TRIPLE MILLIONS game and thought he would give it a try.
“It was the day after the main draw on August 29 when I checked my ticket, Gillies remembered. “While I didn’t see the prize amount, I saw the screen light up green, indicating it was a winner.”
Gillies then set the ticket aside and checked again an hour later on the OLG website and compared his ticket to the winning number in each category. “That’s when I realized I had won $250,000!”
Winning a quarter-million dollars is hard to describe, he added. “I feel as though I manifested this win. My wife and son were surprised when I told them, but for me, it felt just right,” he smiled. “There’s a sense of relief that came with this win. For a moment, it felt like all the world’s problems went away. This win will allow me and my wife to become debt-free, and we will be able to put some money aside for our son’s education.”
TRIPLE MILLIONS was available for $20 from June 20 to August 29 and featured three $1 million guaranteed top prizes, three $50,000 Early Bird prizes, and 402 additional prizes between $1,000 and $250,000.
The winning ticket was purchased at Petro-Canada on Indian Road North in Sarnia.
