The LOTTO MAX odds have landed in favour of an Oshawa man who won half a million dollars in the July 25 MAXMILLIONS draw.

Bryan Hogan, who scored another $20 on the ticket, said he’s been an occasional lottery player for about 20 years. “The big jackpots intrigue me,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his windfall. “My winning ticket was a free play!”

The 46 year-old assistant manager and father of two was at home when he scanned his ticket on the OLG App and learned he won big. “I initially thought I’d won around $500,” he said. Upon taking a closer look he discovered he’d won much more than that. “I thought it was too good to be true!” he recounted. “I knew it was really happening when OLG called to confirm my win. I haven’t slept in a week.”

Hogan said he is looking forward to the security this win will provide. “Life is going to be a bit easier,” he said. “It’s been a very surreal experience. To be honest, I’m still in shock!”

LOTTO MAX players in Ontario have won over $7.8 billion since 2009, including 98 jackpot wins and 850 MAXMILLIONS prizes, right across the province. LOTTO MAX is $5 per play and draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The winning ticket was purchased at Toms Food Store on Nonquon Road in Oshawa.
