Oshawa motorcyclist dies after crash in Clarington

An Oshawa man has died after his motorcycle went off the roadway in Clarington.

Emergency crews rushed to a report of a crash on Highway 2 at Solina Road in Clarington around noon on Tuesday, Durham Regional Police said in a press release.

A 34-year-old man from Oshawa was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle westbound in the curb lane on Regional Highway 2, approaching Solina Road, police said.

Police said the motorcycle failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway and went off into the ditch.

The motorcycle travelled a significant distance in the ditch ejecting the driver, police added.

Air Ornge was called to transport the driver to a Toronto hospital however he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Durham Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit investigated the crash and the highway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. This collision is still under investigation.
