Oshawa Record Show returns after two-year absence

One of the biggest record shows in the GTA is back after a two-year absence.
The 35th Oshawa CD/Record Show will be Sunday, March 27 at the Courtyard Marriot Hotel Conference on Bloor Street in east Oshawa.
(For those of a certain vintage, it’s the old Holiday Inn)
At least 100 vendors will be on hand for the show with lots of vinyl – both new, used and vintage – as well as CDs, t-shirts, posters, DVDs, Blu-Rays and a ton of memorabilia. Records, posters and the like from the Beatles, Guns N Roses and KISS to Prince, David Bowie and Nirvana will be for sale.
The promoters aren’t promising a parade of rock stars at the show but there might be a few. Greg Godovitz of iconic 1970s Toronto-area rockers Goddo will be there, and he’ll be bringing a signed RUSH poster to raffle off for Save The Children Ukraine with him.
“Really looking forward to attending this show (and) meeting a lot of music people,” he said on the show’s Facebook page. “I’ll have copies of my books and stuff with me as well so I can afford the gas to get home.”
(That joke earned him several offers for rides, prompting him to advise his fans thank you, but his transportation issues are covered.)
The show has been running as often as twice a year since 1988 until the pandemic hit two years ago.
Admission is $3 (kids under 14 are free) and students with student ID will also get in at no charge. (If there is no picture on the student ID, please bring along a picture ID)
Most vendors will not have debit machines so bring cash. There will be an ATM onsite. Masks will not be required but are recommended.
Will McGuirk of Kops Record in Oshawa’s SoJo neighbourhood will be there and Another Spin, the city’s newest record store, will be at the show with a booth and will be handing out tote bags to the first 75 patrons.
