Two teenagers are charged after a stabbing at an Oshawa skatepark left the victim with life-threatening injuries.
A fight broke out in the skatepark near Nonquon Road and Mary Street North shortly after 5 p.m. on Nov. 12, Durham Police report. The park sits by North Oshawa Park in an area surrounded by apartment buildings.
What began as a verbal argument escalated into a physical conflict. Investigators say two teen boys attacked and stabbed the victim before running from the area.
When first responders arrived, they found the victim suffering serious life-threatening wounds. Paramedics rushed him to a Toronto hospital as Durham Region does not have a trauma unit. The victim’s condition has since improved to stable.
Meanwhile, police officers and a K-9 unit scoured the area in search of suspects. They found two hiding in a stairwell in one of the nearby apartment buildings. Both were arrested without further incident.
Quinntin Robert Curley, 18 from Oshawa, is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, failure to comply with a release order, and disobeying a court order.
A 17-year-old boy of no fixed address is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. Both suspects remain in custody until a bail hearing.
