A Blade Runner-inspired bar and immersive experience is coming to downtown Oshawa next month with the opening of the NEXUS lounge above the Atria bar on King Street East.

Fans interested in experiencing the cult classic movie or science fiction fans in general will have an opportunity to meet iconic characters from the movie and get immersed in an authentic Blade Runner dystopian future experience, thanks to local marketing firm Citrus Media.

Chris Trubela, Citrus founder and the producer of the Nexus event, has faithfully re-created some of the iconic environments from the much-loved Blade Runner movie. NEXUS gives fans of the Blade Runner movie franchise an opportunity to meet and interact with characters from the movie in elaborately detailed spaces, with everything from a replicant test to secret missions to help the replicant uprising.

“NEXUS means two things to me,” explained Trubela. “First, an opportunity for me to create a space and experience inspired by one of my all-time favourite movies and second, I find myself more often than not having to travel to Toronto to get this kind of experience. It’s time that Oshawa and Durham Region had an experience like this right here in our own back yard.”

NEXUS – the immersive experience – is happening for a limited time every Friday (7 p.m. – 1 a.m.), Saturday (7 p.m. – 1 a.m.) and Sunday (5 p.m. – midnight) from September 1 until October 1. Citrus hopes to offer sci-fi movie nights, art exhibitions and cosplay events in the space after the end of the NEXUS run.

The second floor space at the Atria was formerly known as the Diezel Room, for those who have been around the Oshawa music and entertainment scene.

Citrus Media is an Oshawa marketing firm that has been providing design, website building and marketing consultation services to businesses in the local area as well as across Canada since 1997.
