An Oshawa woman is facing weapons and drug charges after being caught near Midtown Mall with four knives – several of them illegal – a silver baton, a pellet gun and some cocaine.

Lauren Hickey, 30, was already wanted on an outstanding warrant from another police service and was under a weapons prohibition when she was spotted Monday in front of the Beer Store off King Street by officers conducting a proactive patrol.

Hickey had two throwing knives, a hunting knife and a multicolored switchblade at the time of her arrest.

Hickey was taken into custody without incident. She is charged with possession of dangerous weapons, possession of cocaine and fail to comply with release order and was held for a bail hearing.

Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact Cst. Fluxgold of Central East Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5200.
