Oshawa’s Lakeridge Health taps in-house medical director as new Deputy Chief of Staff

Lakeridge has looked within to find its new Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief of Academic Affairs and Research with the appointment of Dr. Nadia Ismiil.

Dr. Ismiil joined the organization Lakeridge in 2019 as a Laboratory Medicine Physician and the Department Chief of Laboratory Medicine and Medical Director of the Laboratory Medicine Program. During her tenure she has led the transformation of Diagnostic Pathology into a sub-specialized model and strengthened the Laboratory Medicine quality management system.

Prior to joining Lakeridge Health Ismiil was the Chief and Division Head of Anatomic Pathology at Sunnybrook Hospital, where she led the development of an innovative leadership development program.

Ismiil has been long involved in translational research, with more than thirty peer-reviewed publications. She has also spent years involved with medical education, working as the Site Director of the Residency Program of Pathology at Sunnybrook, as well as in the role of Remediation Coordinator, supporting and coordinating medical residents facing significant challenges in completing their program.
